Ray Banfield

Ray is based out of Granbury Texas. He works full time and has been carving part time for going on 5 years. He took a trip to Grouse Mountain in Vancouver, B.C. in 2016. There are a bunch of big carvings up there that were very inspiring! A carver named Glenn Greensides spent months up there carving all of them. (Highly recommended to check it out if anyone is up that way.) So when Ray got back to Texas, he started surfing the internet for information on carving, tools, wood, videos, etc. In 2018, he was in his backyard splitting firewood and decided to stand up a small log and scratch on it with the chainsaw! After #1, Ray was hooked; line and sinker! Shortly after that, he found Jeff Mohr's carver workshop. He flew out to his place in Wisconsin for a couple weekends. This was a big boost as opposed to trying to learn it all on his own. Ray has just been trying to learn all sorts of different subjects and perfect them better and better with each carving. He does commissions,  onsite carvings, demonstrations and tries to make a carving competition when he can!!
